Click on Start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup. This will come up with a window with some options about clean up. You can delete Temporary Files, clear Internet caches, etc. This will give you free space. But don‘t tick on anything you are not sure of. It happened with me and I ended up losing programs which had to be installed again. You can also uninstall applications and components that you aren’t using anymore. Then run the Defrag program.
